Suya, by the stick

Every stick is cut, spiced and grilled to order, so nothing sits and dries out. We grind the yaji ourselves and rub it on before the meat touches the coals. Pick your meat, pick your heat, and tell us how many sticks you want.

• Beef suya, by the stickThin strips of beef, rubbed with yaji and grilled fast over open coals so the edges catch. Ask for it well done if you like the crunch.
• Chicken suya, by the stickChicken chunks on the stick, spiced the same way and grilled till the skin is dark and the inside is still soft. Good for kids when you ask for mild.
• Ram suya, by the stickRam cut small and spiced heavier, with more fat so it stays juicy on the fire. This is the one that finishes first, so order it early in the evening.

Sides that belong with it

Suya on its own is a snack. With a side it becomes a meal, and we cook all of ours in the same kitchen, not somewhere else. Jollof rice, fried plantain, moi moi and pepper soup are made in the evening so they reach you hot.

• Jollof rice, cooked in the eveningOur jollof is cooked in the same kitchen and served hot, with the smokiness of a pot that has sat on the fire. Ask for a portion to share.
• Fried plantain, soft or darkSweet plantain fried to order — tell us if you want it soft and pale or dark at the edges. It is the quickest thing to add to a suya order.
• Moi moi, wrapped and steamedMoi moi steamed in leaves and served warm. It comes in a wrap you can eat with your hand, which is why it travels well in a delivery bag.
• Pepper soup, with ramPepper soup with ram, hot enough to clear your head. Order it with the suya on a cold evening, or take a flask home after work.

Spice, portions and packing

• How hot is the yaji?You choose: mild, medium or hot. Say it when you order and we rub that batch to your level. If you are not sure, start with medium.
• How many sticks is one person?It depends on appetite and whether you are adding a side. Tell us how many people you are feeding on WhatsApp and we will tell you how much to order.
• How do you pack takeaway?Suya goes in paper, yaji on the side so it does not go soft on the way. Sides travel in covered packs, and pepper soup goes in a sealed container.
